For Women in STEM: The Canadian Women’s Foundation and Abliminal

Abliminal is privileged to announce a partnership with The Canadian Women's Foundation, an organization that tirelessly supports programs dedicated to improving the lives of females in communities across Canada.
As an impassioned advocate of women’s rights, Abliminal has donated $100,000 to the CWF so it may continue to assist females, affect change, and push for a gender equal nation. Abliminal seeks to actively invest in the future of women and girls, a core value of our corporate identity and an essential step towards positive transformational change in our world.
For our International Women’s Day #ChoosetoChallenge campaign this year, we were thrilled to sponsor Corporate Citizenship for Gender Equality: a virtual learning event that took place on March 8th. Abliminal's CEO, Thomas Davies, was joined by female leaders in STEM in an interactive discussion focused on actionable initiatives businesses can take to support gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace. #ChooseToChallenge is about making female voices heard. Challenge brings about change. Our collective voices have the power to create a more inclusive society.
Abliminal was part of a virtual webinar and roundtable in collaboration with The Canadian Women's Foundation. We discussed thought-provoking challenges faced by women across all workplaces, but especially in STEM, and sought to inspire more individuals to rise-up and overcome the myriad of challenges they confront with gender inequality and bias at the workplace.
“Corporations want to do more financially and beyond,” shared Suzanne Duncan, Vice President of Philanthropy at The Canadian Women's Foundation. “They want to give employees the tools to dig in and do more. They want to help employees become champions of gender equality in their communities. They want to ‘walk the talk’ and go beyond the surface.”
We learned companies must take deliberate steps to create and support an inspiring space for underrepresented individuals, especially females, to rise-up and lead. Businesses who promote role models of diverse thought, gender, and culture, inspire the next generation to seek them out as paradigms of growth, inclusion, and success. We’re so grateful to all our sponsors, speakers, and The Canadian Women's Foundation for making all of this possible.
With over 200 attendees and over 50 000 dollars raised, it was inspiring to see supporters from all kinds of businesses striving to make a difference for women in the workplace and advancing gender equity.
This event served as a wake-up-call for many attendees, including members of our team, concerning gender stereotypes that are entrenched in society. Today, more than ever, we need disparate and representative leadership in the workplace, especially in senior leadership positions.
It is our actions, when the task is difficult and met with resistance, in the absence of trends or accolades, that define our commitment to the cause, so together, let’s do the right thing, every day.
